Thonburi Warriors Game Project
Now, in 2026, I have decided to revisit and "dust off" the rich history of 18th-century Southeast Asia to develop a new project: Thonburi Warriors.
As a solo developer, progress moves steadily but deliberately. Thonburi Warriors is an isometric 2D tactical turn-based game for PC. The game features a deep roster of 56 unique historical characters, supported by 288 general characters (utilising 64 distinct design patterns).
The gameplay experience is divided into three main modes, offering three distinct ways to engage with the era:
1. Story Mode
Following historical events, the game features three primary storylines: Legend of Thonburi, Legend of Konbaung, and Legend of Tay Son. Clearing specific stages unlocks various unique characters and reveals minor side stories. Each stage allows you to deploy a team of eight, mixing both unique and general characters.
2. Conquest Mode
Inspired by the "Empires" style of gameplay, your goal is to unify the land. The stages are spread across a map of Mainland Southeast Asia, featuring various historical factions governing their respective territories. Players can recruit unique characters unlocked from Story Mode to strengthen their chosen faction.
3. Restoration Mode
For those who seek a break from the frontlines, this mode focuses on city management and development. Starting from a ruined village, you will complete quests and random missions to earn resources. Use these rewards to develop your town, featuring item shops, a blacksmith, a stable, an elephant kraal, and activities like farming and fishing. There are also numerous historical items to collect along the way.
Though the project is still in its early stages and may take another year or two to complete, I hope those who have appreciated my work over the years will support me on this journey.
Below are some early artworks and screen captures from
the current build. As always, every single asset is 100% handcrafted and
illustrated by me. Those familiar with my history will know that my style
evolves with each new vision. There are no shortcuts here, just pure dedication
to the craft.
